Lip to Vessel
Ceramics

There is an intimacy to putting one’s mouth to a drinking vessel that we don’t often think about. When viewers peer into these vessels, the petrified texture and flesh of the interiors confront them with the physicality of their own bodies.
I made these vessels that fit organically into one’s hands as a materialization of the notion that we leave traces of ourselves in our surroundings. The forms also explore the multiple identities that we allot to even the most utilitarian objects.
